The Collarum

The throw mechanism of the Collarum™ is designed to last a lifetime under normal conditions.  Although the cable is sized to be reusable, it will not last indefinitely.  On average, three to four coyotes can be caught before cable replacement is necessary.  With fox or dogs, the cable should last a great deal longer.  The throw springs and cinch spring will wear out with prolonged use.  They are easily replaced.

Bait Caps and Lures
These are lures and baits we have used successfully. Nearly every lure/bait maker has their own mix that can be used for the Collarum™. If you have a favorite baitmaker, please contact them to obtain a lure/bait that would work for the M-44 or Coyote Getter-type trigger

LURES

Use small amounts of these lures a few feet from the set. Higher placement will widely disperse the scent on the wind. Ground placement may elicit scratching and rolling behavior.

BAITS

Use these on the pull or baitcap. These are mostly mild smelling, food-type baits that will elicit a licking or biting response.

Collarum Canine Bait - specifically formulated for WCS for use with the Collarum. This bait is made to elicit the "bite & pull" response necessary for the canine to activate the device. Very much like the old-time M44 baits. Very effective  Price: 4 oz. 14.00            Buy Now

Notes on Baits and Lures

Don't mix scents on a pull cap. Try to use the same bait on the cap each time you rebait.

Don't use urine, scat, or a really foul-odored bait on the pull-cap. These odors cause rolling, scratching, urinating, etc. not the biting and pulling response desired.

If you want to experiment with different baits, use them on different sets; or use a "dummy" pull cap with no trap to test effectiveness.

Rebait every week or so.

Use less lure/bait in warm weather, more in cold weather.
